Who We Are

SHPE @ UCR is an interdisciplinary engineering organization. We pride ourselves in not only being able to improve ourselves in a professional, academic, and innovatice way, but in our ability to give back to the community through outreach. Overall, we have proved that we can prepare members for the real world, outside of their undergraduate career, whether it be in graduate school, the industry, or anything else.

OUR MISSION

SHPE changes lives by empowering the Hispanic community to realize its fullest potential and to impact the world through STEM awareness, access, support, and development.

TYPES OF EVENTS WE HAVE

PROFESSIONAL

Our professional events help members prepare for careers in STEM through workshops, networking, industry talks, and company tours. Students gain practical skills, connect with professionals, and explore career opportunities.

SOCIAL

Social events provide a fun, welcoming space to relax and build friendships. From game nights to crafts and bonding activities, members connect and strengthen the SHPE familia.

GENERAL

General meetings share updates, opportunities, and community-building activites. Signature events include Power Brunch (professional development), SHPEtinas Networking Night (supporting Latinas in STEM), and Noche de Ciencias y BNGO (K-12 outreach).
